A quiet day in the valley

We had been watching the forecast and knew that today looked like a rainy day. We didn't mind at all as we'd been very lucky with the weather all week. After breakfast we came up with a game plan for the day. First stop Trümmelbachfälle.....it's a series of 10 glacier fed waterfalls that have carved their way deep into the mountain. All of the run-off from the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau drains down to this spot.

The first 5 of the falls are deep inside the mountain and are completely surrounded by rock, the lower 5 are somewhat exposed to the outside. The water rushes down through the rock like a freight train. It's almost deafening when you are inside...they say that the water flows at a rate of 20,000 litres per second. That's a lol of water! Here are a few pics, it's hard to do it justice

Where's Waldo and Waldina?

There they are!

After visiting the falls we went for a short walk along the valley floor.....we spotted this Swissapillar crossing the road

And then, who would have thought......a self-serve cheese place. We had to check it out

Then it was off to the highlight of our day......laundry, woohoo! We were lucky and found 3 machines empty at the small laundromat. We put our clothes in and headed to the local Internet cafe where we had some tasty coffees and pastries as we waited for our laundry. It also gave me some time to catch up on yesterday's blog....it was a doozie!

After that we did a bit of shopping and then headed back to the hotel for some relaxation, and maybe a little nap. A bit more shopping and then it was off for our final Swiss dinner. Boo about it being our last full day in Switzerland, but hooray for the Italian Riviera tomorrow.

Of course Jo couldn't let her last day here go by without having another Tobler One, as she calls them

One last night of sleeping to the sound of the waterfalls....or in Jo's case "those damn church bells!" Sweet dreams Switzerland.
