From the mountains to the Brienzersee part 3

Hmm, now what to do for supper.....we had seen a sigh for a BBQ cruise when we were in Interlaken. I went down to the front desk and they were more than happy to call and make reservations for us. As we waited on the balcony another mountain storm set in. Lightning, thunder, rain......we checked the email confirmation and there were no refunds for the BBQ cruise. Oh well, a little rain wasn't going to stop us. We geared up and headed to the train station again

It rained so hard that while waiting for the train we noticed that Staubbach falls had turned black, as it was full of soil from the run off.....first time I'd seen a black waterfall.

We arrived in Interlaken with about 30 minutes to spare and just as has been the case throughout this trip, the clouds parted and the sun came out....just in time for our cruise. We boarded to ship in Interlaken Ost (east) and slipped out the canal and into the Brienzersee. It was a fantastic evening! We steamed past small villages, castles, waterfalls, and were treated to a great meal. Here are a few of the many great views

And the meal itself was very good as well

We returned to the dock after dark and had about twenty five minutes to spare before the last train back to Lauterbrunnen for the night. By the time we got back we were all exhausted. It had been a long day, but another fantastic one for many reasons. I posted a short note letting people that they'd have to wait another day for the blog to be updated.....hope the wait was worth it.

Tomorrow is our last day in this idyllic place......but the Italian Riviera is calling :-)
